The Marriage and Family Defense Manual can be used in a variety of ways. First, you may use it to help enrich your marriage. As a couple you can read each chapter and complete the Questions for Reflection and Discussion separately. Meet a few days later and discuss your responses to the questions. Spend some time in prayer together, and ask God for wisdom to apply your discoveries. I believe your marriage will be enriched as you do this.
Couples preparing for marriage will find this manual helpful as a pre-marital counseling tool. The couple should read a chapter a week and answer the Questions for Reflection and Discussion. When they meet with their pre-marital counselor to discuss their responses, the counselor should not be afraid to limit the time spent on each question to direct the discussion to meet their specific needs.
Families may also choose to work through the manual together, following the same plan as above, setting aside some family time each week to discuss the questions. Children will be encouraged at hearing their parents openly discussing feelings and issues. And parents will also be blessed as their children participate in the give and take.
The manual is also an ideal resource for study groups. Members of the study group can read a chapter a week. Afterward, the Bible Study Leader can guide the group in a discussion of the Questions for Reflection and Discussion.
